Ordnance Survey Map c.2022 The impounding reservoir was situated on Morland Road, Birch Vale, Hayfield and was never part of the Harrymoor Water supply system. It was run by New Mills Urban District Council who were succeded by North West Water Authority then United Utilities. The remains of some treatment tanks can be seen in the small rectangle of land on the North side of Morlands Road.
There was an interconnection valve between the Hayfield mains and United Utilities at Oven Hill Road junction of New Mills Road.
