Hayfield Water Supply
KB4 Kinder Bank DSR
This is the newest and is probably now (Dec 2022) the only working reservoir on Kinder Bank. With a TWL of about 880 ft aOD it will not feed Mellor by gravity.

The Chapel-en-le-Frith Public Health Report 1937 says:

HAYFIELD
The 150,000 gallons covered reservoir was completed during the year. 300 yards of water main were renewed and an extension of similar length was carried out.

Note that the inquiry of 1934 says: 'The tank is needed for storage. At present Hayfield has only a storage capacity of *27,400 gallons, not a day's supply, and not sufficient to fight a serious fire. The new tank or covered reservoir will hold 180,000 gallons. That will give about three days’ supply. ... It is proposed to distribute all Hayfield's water from the new tank, which will give a better pressure everywhere. .... the new tank and the new mains, far from complicating the scheme, will simplify it considerably by giving better pressure and doing away with the high and low pressure systems. '
* This capacity is almost certainly wrong. In 1934 the reservoir designated KB3 also feeding Mellor was in use as well as KB2 reservoir. It is thought that KB3 was 150,000 gallons.
