Clay Mills Sewage Pumping Station
Claymills Sewage Works c.1870
MY ASSUMPTION: This plan shows the original sewage works. This is before it was decided to pump the effluent, consisting mainly of brewery waste, to Ewall. The original purpose of the 'U' shaped lagoons may have been settling tanks. There must have been some pumping there because the railway line would be bringing coal in to the building on the left. Possibly the sludge was pumped to the land on the right to dry.
